Summer Sunshine

Kryptonite and I made sandcastles on the beach this morning. It had a bridge, and towers, and I found a vibrant green rock.

Mummy drove for the first time since her injury. Her arm moves enough to reach the key and turn the steering wheel!

I'm eating a samosa from little india. It tastes like spicy yummy deliciousness.

I've rented Easy A. Apparently the director's first movie is about two football guys who decide to go to cheerleading camp for the summer, and is also quite intelligent and entertaining. I'm looking forward to it.

old fashioned sweater dress

I saw a little girl on the subway, round about my knee-height, wearing her Daddy's hooded sweatshirt. The sleeves were rolled up into squishy poofs, and it came down to her mid-calves. Adorable.

Snarky Snark Snark

This song makes me laugh and be happy.

5 thoughts

1. Some lady on the subway complemented the birthday bouquet I had made for Dragiraffalina.

2. Dumplings and good company make for a delicious meal.

3. Digging in the earth and good company make for a good day.

4. The mist made the air cool and fresh.

5. I learned an interesting fact. Apparently, your stomach shrinks once you've eaten, and then as soon as you taste something sweet it expands some new space.

Grapes!

Today I was sick and as I was throwing up (now wait for it, there's a happy moment in this) I suddenly thought "oh, grapes!" identifying the food as it travelled in the opposite direction from its originally intended one. I like that my rational brain never turns off, and takes pleasure in solving problems even at such odd times as that one.

Three days of cake for breakfast!

So I made another cake. It's an imperfect cake, but it had potential. I wanted to make a vertical stripe cake, but I ran out of egg whites, so the stripes aren't very tall.

Beginning to assemble the first stripes, slathering them in nutella mixed with a little yogurt to glue them together:
I made a jello layer for the top. It was my favourite part. I used cranberry juice and white wine. DEEELICIIOOUS. Those are cut up strawberries in it:
The jello was a bit big for the cake and looked pretty but slid off round the edges:
The finished piece:
I think this had the makings of two fabulous cakes. One, a vertical striped carrot cake glued together and decorated with cream cheese and chocolate icing. The second, a lemon-ginger sponge cake with whipped cream and jello layers with a smaller jello window on top and decorated with whipped cream and fruit on the sides.
Anyone willing to taste test?

A chocolate hat and jelly bean flowers

Bird sent pictures of some of the easter egg hiding places they hid and found while I was at work. I adore them, especially the bunny sailing off on an adventure with his gold friends.

The strength of a weed

When my mummy had her accident and we visited her in the emergency room of the hospital all black and blue, she kept telling me, "Unkraut kann nicht ausgerottet werden." It means, "weeds cannot be exterminated." I love my mummy and her indomitable spirit.
