My Brain Sneezed

I'm a bit of an idjit, but the world loves me.

*the series of inspired idiocies that all worked out anyway*
I offered a girl notes for a class she missed. She took me up on the offer, and on sunday night we arranged to meet Monday after my class. We had to arrange specifically a time and place because my phone was dying and I wasn't planning on returning home before class Monday.
Monday arrived and I happily went to class and in the middle of class realized that I didn't have the notebook with the notes she needed for the same reason that my cell phone wasn't charged - I wasn't at home to pick it up. With the last beans of energy in my cellphone I shamefacedly texted her and apologized.
Today I emailed her and asked if she wanted to meet up today when her class finished at one, since my class would be done at noon. This was silly of me because my class STARTS at noon, and ends at 2:00.
but it gets better...
I spent the morning studying for a test in the very same noon-time class. In my head I'm thinking I'll leave at noon, and get there at 1:00 when class starts. At 11:30 I realize the flaw in this lovely piece of reasoning. I leap up in horror, get dressed, run down to queen street and into a taxi. At the same time I realize I've offered to meet my lovely class mate at 1:00, and I'm going to have to admit that not only did I forget to bring my notes the day before, but that today I can't even remember what time my classes are, at which point I'm pretty sure she wont want any notes I take!
I get to class 3 minutes before it starts.
I finish the test at 12:57.
I feel blessed.
I feel like I'm sitting in a beam of light from heaven, (or possibly a puddle of sweat), it's great.

I like kiddies.

I love this song, and think it is even funnier with the subtitles... and comments.
"Thanks for putting the Lyrics on the screen! I was just getting mixed up at the 45th "Unicorns I love them" verse... :) "

"i like the part where she says unicorns i love them"

I'm also amused by stories from my language acquisition textbook.
"Keenan recorded the conversations that occurred between her twin 2-year-old sons early in the morning while the twins were alone in their room. (Babies of child language researchers should watch out for hidden microphones.) She found that the children did attend to each other's speech and produced related utterances. However, the children's ability to sustain a topic was limited, and the longest stretches of related exchanges between the children consisted of sound play with no semantic content at all:
CHILD 1: wake up
wake up
CHILD 2: hake ut (laughing)
CHILD 1: hake ut
CHILD 2: bake up
CHILD 1: break ut
break up
CHILD 2: wake up
wake up (laughing) "

And an example of a 4-year-olds telling a story: "...I have two sisters, one with blond hair like me 'n the other with long black hair. 'N the one with black hair, when she was four like me, she cut her hair with scissors that aren't for cutting hair. 'N now she has short hair."
(quite advanced :)

I like my Dad, I like my sister, I like my hair, I like my hair cuts...

This is possibly the cutest thing you will see all week.

One day I'm gonna whistle?

This video reminded me of you, my friendly ladies, because I'm pretty sure this is like the kids you once were, and if/when you have kids, what your families will be like. I love you oodles.

pfriends, xvoices, sgnow, and ckookies

1. Beckett, Nyrop, and Pfingst are the scholarly authors of the article I am reading now. Their names amuse me. I assume the P is silent like in pfish?

2. The mounds and mounds of white snow are very pretty.

3. I liked the cheeky voices from the back of my classroom. We were learning about how the evaluation of different types of arguments, and one voice snorted when the premise "Mayor Rob Ford is human." was declared to be unarguably true. A second voice said "I thought that's the way it worked," when the professor deemed an argument to be not cogent because it used evidence in a way that was "like me saying, 'I like your point of view so I'll give you an A,' or 'I disagree with you so I'll give you a D."
It's a fun class, and we're encouraged to question everything while not jumping to conclusions.

4. The professor has a very nice speaking voice. It resonates in a pleasing manner.

5. I ran into my long tall lanky florist friend from first year. I was very happy to see him.

6. Cookies are yummy, especially when they have soft middles and crispy edges.

A Day in the Life

1. Once upon a time not too long ago a student hairdresser gave me a Justin Beiber look-alike haircut, (not MY choice). Today Bird sent me an email of the new bieber do. She cheekily said, "I thought you would like to know ;)" With a few alterations I could be a vision of adoration to preteen girls once more!

2. I like this comic:3. My professor quoted words of wisdom I liked, "To argue with a fool is to prove that there are two."

4. Nanermellon arrived safely in one piece, despite a surreal adventure. I am happy to have a Nanermellon.

5. It is always lovely to see Kippen.

winter warmth

I like the fat snowflakes that fell onto my eyelashes.

I like the small asian girl that came into one of my classes with fluffy gray earmuffs that were as big as her head.

I liked the porridge I made with almond milk, lemon peel, cinnamon, and brown sugar.

I liked the surprise of my lovely outfit with I put on with my usual method of which clothes are near the top of the drawer, and which, when I walked past a mirror turned out to be simple and cute, with elegant lines, and a silhouette a bit like an old-school sailor.
