I hope the rest of the day is as good as waking up
I had the most lovely dream about a celebrity with flipping great wodgers of cash who liked me. He was a musician in a well-known alternative band - I'd heard of it, but didn't know any of the bands music. He was being interviewed for some show, and for some reason I wandered in. I started asking questions too, and he and I immediately discovered we were the type of people who could be friends. The rest of the people on the show (the rest of the audience and the official interviewer) were somewhat annoyed that I was monopolizing his attention, but they drifted away. He wanted my number, but I was reluctant to give it because I didn't want to give the wrong impression (after all, I have Rafiki). I hadn't given it to him by the time I woke up, but it was so nice, even in a dream, to find a kindred spirit.
Rafiki sent me the best wake up text this morning (he had to get up early to study, I had to get up early for work), "Wakey wakey my favourite person!! Kisses on your neck, cheeks, forehead, and eye lid if I was in bed with you."

After-bedtime stories
I had two wonderful dreams last night.
The first was a fairy tale. It had hints of Lord of the Rings, The Fifth Elephant, and Hogwarts in it.
The first was a fairy tale. It had hints of Lord of the Rings, The Fifth Elephant, and Hogwarts in it.
It started out on a riverbank. Four of us were trying to arrange stones in a contrastive way to spell "Joel" so we could take a picture of it for our friend who was far away travelling. In our hunt for stones we found a blue and white pottery jug - about the size of milk jug in a tea set. It was undamaged but with subtle cracks in the glaze from age. We left it there and returned to the village where we were staying.
In the morning we heard that last night someone had been found dead at the river bank where we'd been hanging out. The village was awash with rumours of who might have done it and why. That evening we went to the pub for dinner, and our server was a ragged and grubby looking tramp of a man - although his hands and his face were clean. As he was serving us, he began pouring milk from a blue and white pottery jug. We exclaimed in recognition - it was the same jug we'd seen at the river. Where did you get it? We wanted to know. We thought he might have seen something to do with the murder - or been the murderer. The tramp turned white, dropped the jug and fled.
We left the pub and went to a games room, keeping our eyes open for the tramp. People were playing traditional games like checkers and pool, and other more elaborate games where the whole table was the board, and it used peons shaped like chess pieces. A green rat ran across a game table to me. I pet it, and it climbed into my arms and then onto my shoulder. We were told that underneath this building was stored the truth - a solid thing (and in my dream-like way the solid thing was also sometimes laughter) found by kind people hundreds of years ago, and stored here for protection. We were told that we could go see it if we liked. We thought that sounded interesting, so we started down a hallway out of the games room. Three men were walking down the hallway towards us. The little green rat suddenly sat up on my shoulder and screamed "Stop them! They're stealing the truth!"
I aimed a punch at one of the men. They were covered in a grey dirt like the tramp. Except for them, even their faces were grey and slightly transparent. My punch should have been a good one - it hit the lead man solidly in the gut, but he somehow absorbed all the force of the punch, and it felt as if I hit nothing at all. He laughed and kept walking. I punched another man in the back, but again it did nothing.
The rat and I raced down the stairs to see if they truly had stolen the truth, and all the way down there were paintings of people - painted as guards hundreds of years ago - and the paintings were singing about the loss of the truth.
The second dream was short and yummy. It was about making chocolate clay. I made white chocolate raspberry clay (raspberry pink!), and Bird made chocolate marble clay.
Now I want to make both of those in real life.

Night Moose
I liked the dream I had last night. Towards the end of it I was staying in a fancy cottage in the middle of some deep dark woods. It was night time. I was out sketching by moonlight, and Mummy and one of the ladies who owned the cottage were out bird watching, standing in the woods just off the path. Something big and dark came gracefully lumbering along the path towards us. At first we thought it was a bear (and I went to stand beside mummy), but as it came closer I realized it was a big male moose with huge antlers. This was less scary than a bear, but in many ways just as dangerous, because if a thousand pounds of moose hits you with all its sharp antlers and hooves at 60 km/h, your just as dead as if a bear decides to eat you. The moose came running along the path, and as we were admiring him as he drew level with us, another male moose came running along the path. The first moose turned and fought. They were clashing their antlers and dancing in circles around each other, sometimes with big leaps skittering away, each seeking for an opening. At one point our first moose leaped past us into the woods, and as it did it brushed against my shoulder. It stood beside us underneath the trees for a little while, at one point it bumped into me (and apologized). When it was rested it leapt back into the fray and the moose danced and fought off into the distance, and I slowly woke up.

Education
I had a dream that I was teaching kindergarden and I had a little Einstein and a little Charlie Chaplin in my class. And although they were little kids and not simply mini versions of themselves Einstein still had his floofy hair, and Charlie Chaplin still had his little moustache.

Small things
1. I dreamed I was magnetic to butter. It kept flying at me, but I could deflect it, so I kept throwing it at the wall or people who were not entirely nice.
2. The bike path was covered with baby birds finding their wings, and a very small fluffy baby mouse.

3. I ate mulberries off a neighbourhood tree on my way home.
4. A grandmother, her daughter, and her daughter's three very very rambuncious children came into the store today. I sighed when they came in because I was feeling antisocial and solitary, but they turned out to be funny and happy people. They had entered a native garden competition called flower power. Last year they won third prize even though they had only gardened a tiny part in their front garden. This year they did the whole backyard so they have their fingers crossed for first. I liked that they were so enthusiastic about gardening, even though they might not normally be gardeners. They made my day with their jokes and silliness.

The Cumulative Effect
I've been making words up in my sleep. I woke up with the following definition running through my mind: Phsailing is the art of reading and writing, as in, "In Medieval times many women could not phsail." Hence the origin of the term "passing", as in, "to pass a test."
I'm still happy from a night spent with my friends. I'm not sure which bits were best to have such a lasting effect. Perhaps it was that I ended up laughing hysterically about the backwards tree and petrified rabbits. Perhaps it was that all the pictures Summi took accidentally seemed to have a barfing theme. Perhaps it was that we made a feast of good food that covered the entire table. Perhaps it was that when I got home the feast had already been started by Mummy and Jaja who made banana bread and cookies, and walking home was walking into a place full of good smells. Perhaps it was that we tried to make all of Summi's incidental wishes come true. Perhaps it is that we all love and admire eachother. Anyway, the cumulative effect is lovely.

5 Nice Things
1. Jaja laughs with pleasure at her thoughts sometimes before she talks. It's very cute.
2. I wanted an adventure so I put on roller blades and drank boozed-up hot chocolate while making cookies and listening to music. I skated round and round the kitchen table. This led to the brilliant idea for a summer party of wearing rollerblades and making ice cream sundaes.

3. I finished a page of logic exercises. I don't know whether it counts as pleasure, but it was highly satisfying.
4. I received a letter today. It was addressed to Baroness. I am a baronness :)
5. In the morning I dreamed I was singing with an alien. I woke up with the song still in my head.
